Brentford Lock West scores hat trick at British Homes Awards

Waterside Places’ Brentford Lock West has picked up an impressive three awards at the prestigious British Homes Awards. Chalico Walk, the first phase of homes to be delivered as part of phase two at this waterside scheme, secured ‘Apartment Development of the Year’, as well as ‘Development of the Year’, while Waterside Places itself was recognised as ‘Homebuilder of the Year’.

Designed by architects Mae, Chalico Walk forms part of the larger Brentford Lock West development, a long-term regeneration project which is breathing new life into Brentford. The scheme design refers to the site’s industrial past with saw-tooth roofs of the pavilion buildings prominent on the skyline. The blocks are faced in brick, insitu concrete and reconstituted stone, complementing the historic setting and the scheme’s first phase.

The British Homes Awards, which are run by The Sunday Times, attract some of the biggest names in housebuilding and aim to celebrate exceptional design across every aspect of housebuilding — from one-off houses to major developments.

James Stockdale, Development Manager at Waterside Places said: “It is a real honour to have picked up no less than three awards at this year’s British Homes Awards. Chalico Walk is a superb collection of apartments, which offer residents the opportunity to secure a highly specified new home, right on the canal. From the scheme’s impressive atrium to its generous balconies it boasts an array of striking architectural features – making it a sought after destination and popular among a range of buyers.”

Alex Ely, Principal at Mae added: "We are delighted to receive these awards for Brentford Lock West. We’ve worked hard to create a great place to live that positively adds to the regeneration of this waterfront site. Our design builds on the history of the area whilst adding to the industrial canal-side heritage of the site in a way that respects the past whilst looking positively to the future."

Just a limited number of three-bedroom apartments now remain for sale at Chalico Walk, the first homes to have been released on phase two at Brentford Lock West. Prices for the remaining apartments at Chalico Walk start from £702,500. All the homes benefit from a balcony or terrace and many of the homes enjoy water views and are ready to move into now.
