Today, Bristol Rovers players Matt Gill and Michael Smith took part in an event that marked a significant step forward in the delivery of an exciting new neighbourhood centre for Cheswick Village. The Bristol Rovers stars, who both live on the development, attended the ‘first spade in the ground’ event at The Square in Cheswick. The a new scheme will deliver much needed housing, especially for those looking to take their first or second step on the ladder, in addition to a host of retail and leisure facilities.
As of today, works have commenced on site at the new development, which will be delivered by award-winning house builder Mansell Homes (a Balfour Beatty brand), in partnership with Havard Estates. The development will include a collection of 93 one and two-bedroom apartments. The scheme will also provide a host of retail and leisure facilities including an attractive selection of cafes, bars and restaurants along with a new nursery, all arranged around a central square.
The Square will be the latest collection of homes to be delivered as part of the wider new urban village, which has been created in Cheswick over the last five years. Residents here enjoy an enviable location, with good transport links into Bristol and the surrounding towns along with a number of major employers including The University of Western England, the MoD and Hewlett Packard, all on their doorstep.
Guy Hayward, Regional Director of Mansell Homes, said: “This is an exciting scheme for us and will provide a fantastic mix of housing and leisure facilities for both new and existing residents of this popular and emerging village. The homes will all enjoy a modern exterior, combined with highly specified interiors and will all meet strict energy efficiency standards – helping their new owners to keep fuel bills down. Buyers will also benefit from our commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and a first class aftercare service, making every step of buying a Mansell Home a positive and enjoyable experience.”
Martin Blake, of Andrews Estate Agents, who will be marketing the homes added: “The Square is set to become a highly sought after collection of homes, offering local buyers the opportunity to secure a highly specified new apartment, right in the heart of Cheswick Village. With a new bus link added last year, which offers a faster and more direct route into Stoke Gifford and with Filton Abbey Wood Station within walking distance, residents at The Square will be able to enjoy a fantastic location – with good access into the city and the surrounding areas – without the need for getting in the car.”
The first of the homes at The Square are expected to be ready in early 2015, with off-plan reservations being taken from spring next year.
