Slough enjoys successful night as it adds two new awards to its tally

SUR picks up ‘Development of the Year’ and ‘Procurer of the Year’ at two separate award ceremonies last week.

Slough Urban Renewal (SUR) enjoyed a successful evening last Thursday night (11th May) as it picked up Development of the Year for The Curve at the locally acclaimed Thames Valley Property Awards and Procurer of the Year at the prestigious Partnership Awards in London. The two wins add to SUR’s already growing tally of awards secured over recent weeks and highlight the positive impact it is having on the town of Slough.

SUR is a proud partnership between Slough Borough Council and Morgan Sindall Investments Limited. Its aim is to transform the borough of Slough through the delivery of a broad range of commercial, residential and community projects, taking place across the borough.

Andy Howell, General Manager at Slough Urban Renewal said, “It’s a great achievement for our whole team to have picked up another two awards last week. The partnership is proud to continue to deliver an impressive range of projects across Slough, all of which form part of the wider vision to improve the town for all who live and work here. It is fantastic to have achieved recognition in the Thames Valley and internationally and reflects the hard work of a wide range of people, we look forward to continuing this success.”

Councillor Sohail Munawar, leader of the council said: “These awards show the strength of the SUR partnership and how, by working together we are improving the lives of our residents. Slough is changing and these awards not only recognise the buildings themselves but also the amazingly positive impact they and the partnership is having on the town’s residents, business and visitors.

“I can’t wait to see more of the work of SUR coming on stream.”

The Thames Valley Property Awards celebrate the best of Thames Valley property. Within the Development of the Year category, the award judges were specifically looking to see a scheme, which showed the developer’s ability to create an exciting new development, which matches industry standards and is seen as a real addition to the Thames Valley.

At the Partnership Awards, the judges reported that they were impressed by the way in which SUR was functioning and delivering against its requirements. They also highlighted that the joint venture had demonstrably put the focus on public interest and engagement with relevant stakeholders. SUR was praised for being an excellent example of a successful and growing long-term partnership, which was delivering across a number of sectors.

Other recent awards for SUR include The Curve, being named ‘Best public service building’ at the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) building excellence awards, while Dharmesh Modi from Morgan Sindall took home the ‘LABC non-residential site agent of the year’ award for his role on the project. In addition, Arbour Park Community Sports facility was recently announced winner of the Groundtastic awards for its £8.4million facility.
