SUR secures planning for Wexham South scheme

The local planning committee have approved Slough Urban Renewal (SUR)’s proposed Wexham South scheme (subject to conditions), which will deliver a collection of 24, new two and three bedroom family homes for Slough.

The Wexham South site sits adjacent to Wexham Green, where SUR is in the final stages of delivering a collection of 104 family homes. The site, which is owned by the Council, sits on the corner of Wexham Road and Norway Drive and occupies a currently vacant plot of land.

Alongside the new homes, as part of the scheme, SUR will also be making significant enhancements to the surrounding public realm. This will include improvements to the local playground, dog walking area and running track, as well as installing a new, green gym – all of which will aim to improve the accessibility and safety of this green space, for the benefit of the wider community.

Andy Howell, General Manager, Slough Urban Renewal (SUR), said: “Our proposed plans for Wexham South will provide much needed, family housing for Slough. The scheme enjoys a great spot. While positioned so close to open countryside and green space, residents here will be within easy reach of the bustling high street as well as the town’s excellent transport links, in addition to some exceptionally good schools. From first time buyers to young families we are anticipating the homes will enjoy wide appeal and we look forward to commencing work.”

Works on the site are anticipated to commence in early 2019, with the first homes at Wexham South due to be launched for sale off plan, later the same year.
