SUR shortlisted for industry award

Slough Urban Renewal (SUR), a successful partnership between Slough Borough Council and Morgan Sindall Investments Limited has been shortlisted for a prestigious Partnership Award, recognising excellence among public-private partnerships (PPP) across the world.

Shortlisted within the Procurer of the Year category, the SUR team has demonstrated how it has encouraged innovation, exhibited sound commercial decision making and successfully encouraged strong partnering relationships across its broad range of projects and initiatives.

Andy Howell, General Manager at Slough Urban Renewal said, “To be shortlisted for such a prestigious award is a real honour and clearly demonstrates the role SUR is playing in transforming the borough of Slough. Our collaboration successfully enables the Council to take advantage of private sector development capacity and resources, while our structure ensures that the Council shares in the financial rewards and maintains a direct role in the long-term regeneration of the town.

“We have already delivered some notable projects, including The Curve and the new stadium at Arbour Park, with work underway across a vast number of other projects from new homes and school expansions to new community and leisure facilities. It is an exciting time to be in Slough and we are delighted to be playing a significant part in the town’s future.”

Councillor Sohail Munawar, leader of the council, added: “SUR is an excellent partnership, which is driving our investment in Slough and having a major and positive impact on people’s lives. From new school buildings to new homes for local people, SUR is an example to others on how private and public sector partners when working together and pulling in the same direction can make such a positive difference to a town and its people.”

Now in its 19th year, the Partnerships Awards is the largest event to recognise and reward the best in public-private partnerships (PPP) – inviting entrants from across the world to enter a broad range of categories, specifically tailored to celebrate the industry’s achievements.

Within the Procurer of the Year category, SUR has been shortlisted alongside Argyll & Bute Council's Special Projects Team and the Central Government Real Estate Agency from the Netherlands.

Award winners will be announced at the Partnerships Awards event on the 11th May 2017 at the Hilton Park Lane.
