Stubbings supports Maidenhead Hockey Club

This weekend (30th March – 1st April), Maidenhead Hockey Club will be hosting its annual Under 18s International Easter Tournament, as it welcomes teams from M.H.C. Krimpen from Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Brigg Hockey Club from near Scunthorpe, for a weekend of hockey matches and fun.

The U18 Annual Easter Tournament, which is being sponsored by Marlow-based Stubbings Property Marketing, marks the highlight of the Colts (under 18s) hockey season and is steeped in tradition. The tournament was started back in 1982 by M.H.C. Krimpen, who were keen to link with an English team to set up an international celebration of hockey.

Each of the clubs participating now take it in turns to host the tournament, with players and coaches alike hosting their guests for the weekend within their own homes. Social gatherings are arranged at the Clubhouse for each evening, encouraging players to socialise and to foster new friendships that typically go on to last well beyond when the tournament ends.

Dave Taylor, Chair of Maidenhead Hockey Club, said: “The Easter U18s Tournament is always a highlight within our hockey calendar, giving players an opportunity to not only enjoy some great hockey matches but to meet new people, and to really celebrate our shared passion for the game. So many of our coaches have fond memories of participating in the tournament themselves and it’s great to see everyone pull together and enjoy such a positive sporting and social occasion.”

The weekend’s tournament will take place at the Bray Sports Club, where the teams play on grass. The official opening of the tournament will take place at 10:30am on Saturday 31st March, where all attendees and participants will be welcomed by Helen Todd of Stubbings Property Marketing, the tournament’s sponsor.

Members of the public are invited to attend as spectators throughout the weekend. However, on Sunday 1st April the club will be hosting a Family Day from 11am, during which the finals will take place and trophies will be presented (at 4:45pm). Throughout the day, the club will have a stall set up, selling cakes and tea/coffee, with all funds raised going towards funding the event.
