SUR launches public consultation for its plans to transform Montem Lane site

Today (Monday 20th July) Slough Urban Renewal (SUR) has launched a public consultation to gather local feedback on its proposals to deliver a collection of new homes and public spaces on the Montem Lane site, which sits on the western edge of Slough Town Centre.

The former leisure centre site is set to be transformed into a new collection of circa 200 new apartments and family houses – helping to meet the need for affordable, high quality homes within the borough. The site, which forms part of the proposed Chalvey Regeneration Area, is also set to deliver outside spaces for the benefit of the wider community and improvements to the woodland area and the brook, which runs alongside the site.

Andy Howell, General Manager, Slough Urban Renewal (SUR) said: “Having successfully completed the largescale refurbishment of Slough’s new £18m leisure facility The Centre back in 2019, we have been working on plans for the former Montem Leisure Centre site. We have worked hard to ensure that our plans will offer much needed high-quality local housing, while also providing attractive public realm and usable open spaces, that will benefit the wider community. I would encourage local residents to take a look at our dedicated website and to feedback their thoughts, via the online feedback form.”

SUR hopes to submit a planning application later this Autumn. Ahead of this, SUR is looking to engage with the local community to explore local preferences and secure feedback on its plans for the former leisure centre.
The public consultation is now open for three weeks inviting comments by Monday 10th August. For more information and to provide your feedback, visit the dedicated website here: www.montemlane.co.uk
