Brentford Challenge: Date announced

Annual sports and family fun day in Brentford offers local residents an opportunity to get active

The annual Brentford Challenge will be taking place on Sunday 10th May, offering local residents an opportunity to take part in a variety of sporting activities, all followed up with a free family fun day at Syon Park.

The event, which is entering into its fourth year is organised by the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust and always proves to be a popular day among local people of all ages. The day’s activities will commence with a timed paddleboard trial in front of the Brentford Lock West development, followed by a 1k fun run and a 5k trail run in Syon Park. Locals are invited to sign up to all or any one of the activities on offer, or simply turn up and enjoy the family fun day, which will include a host of sporting activities, along with a BBQ and entertainment.

Lee Doyle, Chief Executive, Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, said: “The Brentford Challenge is a fantastic event, which gives local people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to get active and enjoy a day packed with fun activities and entertainment. Paddleboarding is becoming increasingly popular in the area and is more accessible than you might think. We hope that this year’s event will encourage more people to get out onto the water and enjoy some of the excellent facilities the area has available.”

The Brentford FC Community Sports Trust will be offering training in advance of the event for all competitors signing up for the paddleboarding. Those who wish to find out more information or to sign up for the Brentford Challenge can visit www.brentfordfccst.com The Brentford Challenge comprises a paddleboard time trial (suitable for those aged 11 years +), a 1k fun run (for those aged 5 years +) and a 5k trail run (for those aged 11 years +). Prices to participate in the various sporting activities start from £6 per person.

The family fun day is a free event and will commence at 1pm in Syon Park. There will be a BBQ and a licensed bar on site. Attendees are welcome to bring their own picnics. Free music and entertainment will be running throughout the day.
