SUR to move forward with its plans to deliver new homes on former leisure centre site

Last week, Slough Urban Renewal (SUR) secured planning permission for its proposed residential scheme on the western edge of Slough Town Centre.

The residential development will deliver 212 new homes for the town, comprising a mixture of apartments and family houses - helping to meet the need for affordable, high quality homes within the borough.

Having successfully completed the large scale refurbishment of The Centre in 2019, Slough’s new £18m leisure facility, and with planning now secured for Montem Lane, SUR is able to move forward, delivering new homes and new community spaces on the former Montem Leisure Centre site.

Katy Walker, Senior Development Manager at Slough Urban Renewal (SUR) said: “This is a great scheme and will really help to rejuvenate the western edge of the town. With a newly refurbished leisure centre in place, this site provides an opportunity to deliver much needed housing for the borough and its residents. In addition to the homes that will be delivered here, we will be incorporating communal spaces, that will be open to the wider community and we will be improving the public realm, for the benefit of all.”

The site forms part of the proposed Chalvey Regeneration Area. In addition to the new homes, SUR plans to deliver communal outside spaces, as well as rejuvenating the woodland area and the much neglected brook, which runs alongside the site.
